Home-Based Business in Kapit: Creating Local Opportunities

On 17 May 2026, PSJKM collaborated with Persatuan Perkumpulan Wanita Sarawak (PPWS), Kapit Branch. The programme introduced home-based business in Kapit through entrepreneurship sharing and creative skills.

The programme brought together 20 participants from the local community. Moreover, the session involved KEMAS members and teachers who explored new opportunities through practical learning.

Participants learned about the concept of building a business from home. Therefore, the programme encouraged them to consider how creative skills can become potential income opportunities.

PSJKM sincerely thanks Puan Nur Kamariah Binti Abdullah for supporting this meaningful collaboration and helping strengthen community engagement in Kapit.

Exploring Home-Based Business Through Modern Embroidery

The seminar introduced the concept of home-based business in Kapit and its potential within the creative sector. Furthermore, participants learned about modern embroidery and the equipment available today.

Modern equipment can help individuals improve their creative work and develop products more efficiently. Therefore, the session introduced participants to tools that can support modern embroidery activities.

The discussion also encouraged participants to look at creative skills from a business perspective. Instead of treating these skills only as hobbies, participants could consider developing products for customers and local communities.

As a result, the programme created a platform for participants to explore entrepreneurship while discovering new possibilities through creative skills.

Learning Through Eco Pounding

Alongside the entrepreneurship sharing session, participants joined an eco pounding bag activity. Through this hands-on experience, they explored creative ways to develop sustainable products.

The activity encouraged participants to experiment with natural elements and creative designs. Meanwhile, participants experienced how practical workshops can complement entrepreneurship learning.

Therefore, the programme connected skills development, sustainability and entrepreneurship in one community learning experience.

Empowering Women Through Local Partnerships

The collaboration with PPWS Kapit demonstrates the importance of working closely with local community organisations. Through these partnerships, PSJKM can bring practical skills closer to communities across Sarawak.

Importantly, home-based business in Kapit can provide an accessible pathway for participants to explore entrepreneurship within their own communities.

Local partnerships can also create opportunities for future training, workshops and community programmes. Therefore, PSJKM welcomes more organisations in Kapit and across Sarawak to develop initiatives together.
