Youth Empowerment Malaysia Through Sustainable Innovation
Youth Empowerment Malaysia grows stronger when young people gain practical skills and meaningful experiences. Therefore, PSJKM x ReMadeSia partnered with AIESEC to deliver the LYFE Programme at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia on 21 July 2026. Throughout the session, students transformed discarded umbrellas into functional tote bags using simple cutting, tying, and weaving techniques. Moreover, the workshop inspired participants to see waste as a valuable resource while encouraging creativity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
Building Future Leaders Through Hands-On Learning
The programme welcomed students from different backgrounds and encouraged everyone to participate confidently. Therefore, the workshop required no sewing experience and remained accessible to beginners. Instead, participants learned practical upcycling techniques while discovering the principles of the circular economy. Furthermore, every completed bag reflected each student’s creativity and problem-solving skills. As a result, the activity demonstrated that sustainable innovation begins with simple ideas and a willingness to take action.
Strong Partnerships Create Greater Community Impact
Youth Empowerment Malaysia succeeds when organisations unite behind a shared purpose. Therefore, PSJKM, MyUmbrella, AIESEC, and Heriot-Watt University Malaysia collaborated to create an engaging sustainability experience for university students. MyUmbrella supplied discarded umbrella materials, while PSJKM transformed them into meaningful learning opportunities through the ReMadeSia initiative. Meanwhile, AIESEC connected passionate students with an activity that combined creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness. Together, the collaboration encouraged participants to become ambassadors for sustainable living within their own communities.

The LYFE Programme represents another important milestone in the growing ReMadeSia journey. Following its successful public launch at the Malaysia Gifts Fair 2026 and the first university activation at Sunway College, PSJKM x ReMadeSia continues expanding its mission across Malaysian campuses. Consequently, Youth Empowerment Malaysia remains at the heart of every programme as students develop practical skills while creating positive environmental and social impact. Every workshop strengthens the belief that today’s youth can become tomorrow’s sustainability leaders.
