DSV Sustainability Initiative Supports Eco-Batik Garden Development
The DSV Sustainability Initiative recently brought together environmental stewardship, biodiversity appreciation, and sustainability learning at Taman Botanic Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA).
Through this programme, DSV Malaysia became one of the pioneering corporate supporters contributing towards TBNSA’s future Eco-Batik Garden ecosystem. The initiative involved 30 DSV employees, who collectively planted 60 trees while exploring Eco-Batik environmental applications and biodiversity sustainability practices.
TBNSA aims to strengthen awareness and educational activities related to Eco-Printing, also recognised as Eco-Batik. Therefore, the DSV Sustainability Initiative focused not only on environmental contribution, but also on supporting the development of a long-term sustainability learning ecosystem connected with biodiversity and nature-based material appreciation.
Furthermore, the planted trees may eventually support future Eco-Batik educational activities within the botanical garden.
Tree Planting Creates Long-Term Environmental Impact
The DSV Sustainability Initiative encouraged employees to participate directly in environmental conservation and sustainability practices. During the programme, participants explored biodiversity while learning how environmental ecosystems contribute towards sustainability awareness.
Moreover, DSV employees collectively planted 60 trees that are estimated to contribute more than 1.2 metric tons of CO₂ absorption annually. Consequently, the environmental impact of the programme may continue growing as the trees mature over time.
Besides supporting biodiversity enhancement, the initiative also contributed towards the future development of TBNSA’s Eco-Batik educational ecosystem. Therefore, the programme transformed tree planting into a growing environmental and sustainability platform instead of a symbolic ESG activity.
Eco-Batik Connects Sustainability With Biodiversity
The DSV Sustainability Initiative also introduced participants to Eco-Batik environmental applications using leaves and nature-based materials. Unlike conventional synthetic applications, Eco-Batik encourages appreciation towards biodiversity, plant textures, and sustainable material exploration.
Therefore, participants gained greater understanding on how environmental resources may inspire more sustainable approaches in creative and educational practices. Furthermore, the initiative demonstrated how environmental preservation can connect directly with sustainability learning and biodiversity awareness.
Through this approach, the programme strengthened:
- sustainability awareness
- biodiversity appreciation
- employee participation
- environmental stewardship
Most importantly, the initiative supported TBNSA’s vision of developing a future Eco-Batik Garden ecosystem that combines sustainability education, biodiversity engagement, and environmental appreciation.
Growing Sustainability Together Through Environmental Stewardship
