Sustainable IWD Program Focused on Skills and Personal Growth
The Sustainable IWD Program with Turner & Townsend created a meaningful and hands-on experience. Specifically, 15 employees joined this session to celebrate International Women’s Day. Moreover, the session combined sustainability with creativity and personal expression.
Furthermore, the Sustainable IWD Program allowed participants to step out of their daily routines. As a result, they explored new skills while reflecting on sustainability in their own lives. Consequently, the session became both educational and personally enriching.
Understanding Sustainability Through Presentation
The session began with a sustainability presentation to set the context. Therefore, participants understood the environmental and social impact of textile waste. In addition, facilitators explained how sustainable practices support long-term change.
Moreover, this introduction helped participants appreciate the importance of conscious consumption. As a result, the Sustainable IWD Program created a strong foundation for the hands-on sessions that followed.
Exploring Innovation at the Gallery Showcase
Next, participants explored a curated gallery showcasing PSJKM’s sustainable initiatives. Specifically, the showcase featured textile upcycling, plastic-to-textile innovation, seed art, and Warna Warni Botanic.
Furthermore, the gallery allowed participants to see real products created from waste materials. Therefore, the Sustainable IWD Program transformed abstract concepts into tangible impact. Consequently, participants gained deeper appreciation for sustainable craftsmanship.
Hands-On Plastic to Textile Workshop
Participants then joined a plastic-to-textile workshop with creative applications. Firstly, they created personalised bookmarks using recycled materials. Additionally, they designed pouches while learning basic sewing techniques.
Moreover, participants expressed creativity through their own designs and ideas. As a result, the Sustainable IWD Program encouraged both learning and self-expression. Consequently, participants experienced the value of transforming waste into useful products.
Textile Upcycling with Personal Meaning
Another key session focused on textile upcycling. Specifically, participants transformed old garments into tote bags with personalised elements. In addition, they designed pockets based on personal stories, pets, or future aspirations.
Furthermore, this activity connected sustainability with personal meaning. Therefore, the Sustainable IWD Program created emotional engagement alongside skill-building. As a result, participants developed stronger connections to their creations.
Building Connection Through Group Engagement
Finally, participants gathered for a group reflection session and photo. Therefore, they shared their experiences and insights from the day. Moreover, this session strengthened team bonding and collective learning.
As a result, the Sustainable IWD Program concluded with a sense of unity and shared purpose. Consequently, participants left with both memories and meaningful takeaways.
