Celebrating the Completion of the Dorsett x PSJKM Upcycling Project

After six months of collaboration and creativity, the Dorsett x PSJKM Upcycling Project proudly reached its completion. The partnership between Dorsett Grand Subang and Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif Malaysia (PSJKM) aimed to deliver impact beyond sustainability. Together, both parties transformed discarded hotel textiles into functional and meaningful handcrafted products.

The final creations — the Nasi Lemak Pouch and Cable Organizer Box — highlight the harmony between environmental awareness and social empowerment. Each product reflects Dorsett’s sustainability vision and PSJKM’s craftsmanship, driven by B40 crafters, single mothers, and Orang Asli artisans.

Showcased at Warna-Warni Botani: Festival Fabrikasi 2025

The success of the Dorsett x PSJKM Upcycling Project reached the public eye during Warna-Warni Botani: Festival Fabrikasi 2025, held at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam. The event became the perfect platform to showcase Dorsett’s sustainability initiative for the first time.

Her Majesty, the Queen of Selangor, graced the event and expressed deep appreciation for the project’s meaningful impact. Due to this outstanding collaboration, Dorsett Group General Manager, Mr. Rasheed Kumar Renoo Bin Abdullah (Area GM), was invited to take a group photo with the Queen, recognizing Dorsett as one of PSJKM’s key sustainability partners.

The festival also gathered representatives from KPKT, Tourism Malaysia, and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, alongside corporate players such as AEON and DB Schenker. Their presence emphasized how Dorsett’s commitment to sustainability has inspired both government agencies and industries to act towards a greener future.

Sustainability That Empowers Artisans

Beyond reducing waste, the Dorsett x PSJKM Upcycling Project showcases empowerment through creativity. Each finished product carries a tag that reads:
“Crafters Empowered by Dorsett — With Appreciation to PSJKM Artisans, B40, Single Parents, and Orang Asli.”

This statement reflects Dorsett’s gratitude towards the hands behind each creation. It highlights how the collaboration not only reduces textile waste but also uplifts marginalized communities. Together, Dorsett and PSJKM continue to nurture a circular economy that supports both environmental care and human empowerment.

Igniting Infinite Possibilities Together

Through this initiative, Dorsett proves that sustainability can merge with empowerment to create real impact. Their commitment has inspired ministries, corporations, and individuals to think differently about waste. The project demonstrates how upcycling can turn limitation into innovation, shaping a better and more responsible tomorrow.
