Royal Support Elevates Handmade Craft Expo
From 19 to 22 October 2023, Pavilion Bukit Jalil came alive with the Handmade Craft Expo 2023, themed “The Tunku Azizah Handmade Market.” The event received the royal presence of Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. As the patron of PSJKM, she continues to champion Malaysia’s traditional craft scene.
This strong royal support boosted the event’s visibility and drew a large crowd. Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin of Selangor also graced the expo, making it a truly memorable gathering.
A Platform for Local Craft Talents
The expo gathered over 300 local entrepreneurs from the A Home for Malaysia Crafter club. They proudly showcased various handmade products—from textiles to forest-based crafts and metalworks. Through this handmade craft expo, artisans had the opportunity to reach both domestic and international audiences.
Moreover, the event gave small businesses the exposure they deserved, turning passion into profit through sustainable creativity.
Interactive Activities Engage Visitors
The handmade craft expo didn’t stop at displays. Visitors participated in live demos, pocket talks, and engaging craft workshops. Business matching sessions helped connect artisans with potential buyers and collaborators.
This lively mix of learning and fun brought together crafters, families, and curious learners from all walks of life. These moments not only entertained but also educated attendees on Malaysia’s rich creative traditions.
