A Collaborative Effort to Inspire Change (Upcycling Workshop)
UNIQLO invited PSJKM to join The Power of Clothing Project at Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park for conducting an Upcycling Workshop. This inspiring event involved UNIQLO, UNHCR, MRA, and PSJKM, who worked together to promote upcycling and sustainability. These organizations collaborated to engage students with meaningful activities and ideas.
During the opening session, speakers from UNIQLO, UNHCR, and MRA delivered powerful messages. They discussed the importance of recycling, shared stories about the refugee community, and encouraged students to act responsibly. The speeches helped students understand real-world issues and inspired them to contribute to change.
PSJKM Empowers Through Hand-Stitched Creations
After the talks, PSJKM’s tutor took the lead to guide students in an upcycling workshop. The tutor explained how people can reuse fabric waste creatively. She demonstrated how hand-stitching can turn simple scraps into beautiful items.
In this interactive session, each student created their own Upcycled Owl Keychain. With guidance from PSJKM and support from UNIQLO Setia Alam staff, all participants completed their crafts. Despite the limited time, students showed enthusiasm, creativity, and strong teamwork.
Learning Sustainability Through Action
The upcycling workshop gave students a hands-on experience with sustainable practices. They realized that eco-friendly action doesn’t always require large tools or machines. Just using your hands, fabric scraps, and imagination can spark change.
Through this project, PSJKM continues to show how upcycling can be both fun and impactful. The workshop proves that creative education leads to confident, responsible youth.
