A Meaningful Corporate-NGO Collaboration

On 21 April 2025, EITA Resources Berhad joined hands with PSJKM (Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif Malaysia) to celebrate Earth Day through a meaningful collaboration. The event took place at EITA’s HQ in Bukit Raja and brought together over 100 employees in person, while many others joined remotely through Zoom, making it a nationwide initiative.

EITA’s Acting Group Managing Director, Mr. Lim Joo Swee, opened the session with a strong speech on corporate responsibility and sustainability. He highlighted how every collaboration between businesses and NGOs creates positive environmental and social change.

Upcycling to Educate and Empower

PSJKM’s Secretary, Ms. Teo Siew Fang, conducted a live session for on-site and online participants. She emphasized how collaboration with local communities through upcycling supports ESG values. Her message was clear: transforming waste into value is not just possible, it’s essential.

At the event, PSJKM curated a gallery showcasing upcycled creations—mostly made from old denim and cotton work shirts. These items demonstrated how waste can gain a second life. EITA also held a second-hand shirt sale, reinforcing the impact of reuse in daily habits.

Engagement Through Hands-On Action

To spark direct involvement, PSJKM led a short upcycling workshop. Employees learned simple techniques to repurpose old clothes creatively. This practical session turned awareness into action.

A unique highlight was the “Fully Used” showcase, where upcycled samples were available for pre-order. Staff who brought old garments could explore turning them into new, usable products. This idea deepened the meaning of collaboration and connected it directly with lifestyle change.
