Home-Based Business in Miri: Exploring New Opportunities

On 14 August 2026, PSJKM collaborated with Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sarawak, Miri. The programme introduced home-based business in Miri through modern embroidery and entrepreneurship sharing.

The session brought together 13 participants from the IPG staff and the Miri community. Moreover, participants explored how creative skills can support opportunities for small businesses.

The programme introduced the concept of building a business from home. Therefore, participants gained a better understanding of how practical skills can become potential income opportunities.

PSJKM also extends its appreciation to Puan Dayang Suhailah binti Mohd Jaafar, Pengerusi AKRAB, for supporting this collaboration.

Exploring Home-Based Business Through Modern Embroidery

The seminar introduced the concept of home-based business in Miri and its potential within creative industries. Furthermore, participants learned about modern embroidery equipment and its applications.

Today, technology can help individuals improve their creative work and develop products more efficiently. Therefore, the session introduced participants to equipment that can support modern embroidery activities.

The discussion also encouraged participants to consider creative skills from a business perspective. Instead of keeping these skills as personal interests, participants can explore ways to develop products and services.

As a result, the seminar created a platform for participants to learn about entrepreneurship while discovering new possibilities within the creative sector.

Connecting Education and Community

The collaboration with Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sarawak also created an opportunity to connect education with community empowerment. Through this partnership, IPG staff and community members could explore practical entrepreneurship knowledge together.

Furthermore, institutions can play an important role in introducing new skills and opportunities to local communities. These connections can create stronger pathways for future programmes and community initiatives.

The programme therefore supports PSJKM’s wider effort to make practical skills more accessible. It also encourages communities to explore sustainable and creative ways to develop their livelihoods.

Strengthening Local Empowerment in Miri

This programme also contributes to PSJKM’s growing engagement across Sarawak. Importantly, collaboration with local institutions allows programmes to respond more closely to local interests and opportunities.

Through home-based business in Miri, participants can explore entrepreneurship while staying connected to their communities. Moreover, stronger local partnerships can create more opportunities for future skills development.

PSJKM welcomes organisations, educational institutions and community groups that want to work together in Sarawak. Together, we can empower more people through practical skills, creativity and entrepreneurship.
