Orang Asli Empowerment Program Transforming Lives in Kg Mo’ok

The Orang Asli Empowerment Program in Kg Mo’ok, Rompin created meaningful impact within seven days. Specifically, the program supported 10 Orang Asli women through skill-based training. Moreover, KKDW and FTC funded this initiative to strengthen rural livelihoods.

Furthermore, the Orang Asli Empowerment Program focused on practical and income-generating skills. As a result, participants gained exposure to sewing, natural dyeing, and seed art techniques. Consequently, they can now apply these skills to build sustainable income streams.

Skills Development with Tools for Long-Term Growth

During the program, participants received machinery for sewing, dyeing, and seed art production. Therefore, they can immediately start creating products after training. In addition, trainers guided them through hands-on sessions to ensure confidence and consistency.

Moreover, the program emphasised real-world application rather than theory. As a result, participants developed both technical and entrepreneurial understanding. Consequently, the Orang Asli Empowerment Program created a strong foundation for long-term self-reliance.

Income Opportunities Through Corporate Collaboration

Importantly, participants already secured income opportunities through collaboration with Uniqlo. Specifically, Uniqlo placed an order of 100 upcycled tote bags under its sustainability initiative. These tote bags use altered fabric, which promotes circular economy practices.

Additionally, this collaboration connects training directly to market demand. Therefore, participants gain not only skills but also immediate income. You can read more about the initiative here: PSJKM’s upcycling tote bag workshop.

Support from Government and Industry Leaders

On the final day, key representatives visited Kg Mo’ok to show support. Notably, the Pengarah JAKOA Negeri Pahang and Pengarah Kraftangan Pahang attended the session. As a result, participants received encouragement and recognition for their progress.

Furthermore, these visits opened opportunities for future collaboration and support. Therefore, the Orang Asli Empowerment Program continues to grow beyond the initial training phase.
