Promoting Sustainability and Creativity
On 1st December 2024, Chua Jun Yu, Program Stakeholder of PSJKM, joined RTM’s popular TV broadcast “Fresh Brew” to promote the Warna-Warni Botanic: Festival Fabrikasi. The show, hosted by the dynamic duo Nabil and Arena, offered an engaging platform to share PSJKM’s inspiring journey, mission, and upcoming initiatives.
PSJKM: History, Vision, and Mission
During the session, Chua Jun Yu began by sharing PSJKM’s background, emphasizing its commitment to empowering underprivileged communities through craftsmanship and sustainable practices. Founded with the vision to uplift lives while preserving traditional arts, PSJKM continues to lead the way in sustainable handcrafts.
The mission extends beyond skill-building to include environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and education. PSJKM envisions a world where creativity and sustainability coexist to create a better future for all.
Natural Dye and Eco-Print: Tradition Meets Sustainability
Chua Jun Yu highlighted the fascinating art of natural dye and eco-print techniques, two pillars of PSJKM’s sustainable initiatives. These methods use plant-based materials, such as pink hues from durian shells and browns from coconut husks, to produce vibrant, eco-friendly designs.
He explained how these techniques not only promote environmental conservation but also provide sustainable income opportunities for local artisans and the Orang Asli community. Viewers learned how nature and innovation can come together to create beautiful, meaningful products.
Spotlight on Warna-Warni Botanic: Festival Fabrikasi
The highlight of the session was the promotion of Warna-Warni Botanic: Festival Fabrikasi, which took place from 5th to 8th December at Taman Rimba Bukit Lagong. Chua Jun Yu invited viewers to experience the festival’s workshops, eco-print activities, and interactions with Orang Asli rangers.
The festival featured 20 booths of eco-friendly crafts, engaging workshops, and Pavillion Orang Asli. This event served as a platform to promote sustainable living, cultural exchange, and education for all ages.
